Welcome to Week Four of Better Homes and Garden One Room Challenge! Can you believe we are at the halfway point? If you have been following my journey, welcome back. If you are new, you can catch up on Week One, Week Two and Week Three and be sure to check the ORC blog to see what all the designers and guest participants are up to during Week Four.
This week is all about the windows! I purchased this Nathalie, Lipstick linen fabric five years ago without a project in mind and thankfully stashed it away. Luckily I had enough yardage to whip up five drapery panels but honestly most of my time was spent dusting off my vintage singer machine and googling how to videos! It’s been a few years…
Once the drapes were sewn I then needed to install the window blinds and curtain rods. I found these whitewash bamboo roman shades that would bring in the perfect textural element without drawing your attention. The best feature is they are cordless which is definitely needed with my little one! I decided to go with my very favorite curtain rod in polished silver. They are super affordable and have a nice modern but understated design.
My only challenge was finding a hinged elbow connector to turn my rods into corner drapery rods. I was determined to find an affordable option and ordered these without much hope and to my shock it worked perfectly!
I’m so happy with how the drapes turned out. They truly make me smile – such a bright and pretty floral for my baby girl.
The room is starting to come together now that the windows are dressed. Red is a challenging color to design around (and photograph too)! I can’t wait to add the other elements to the room and start tying it all together. If only the new carpet would arrive! You’ll never guess what option I went with. Or would you?
Be sure to follow along over on IG @flynnhaus for all the behind the scenes shenanigans! See you next week.
