It’s week five of the One Room Challenge and this week is all about getting out of the 90% club with my painting projects!
If you’re new here, welcome and thank you for following along on my budget friendly bedroom refresh for my middle daughter, Gracie. You can click on the links below for progress that I’ve made over the past 4 weeks.
WEEK ONE. WEEK TWO. WEEK THREE. WEEK FOUR. WEEK FIVE. WEEK SIX. WEEK SEVEN. WEEK EIGHT
Are you a member of the 90% club when IT comes to projects?
What is the 90% club you ask? It’s when you get your project just to the finish line but not over it. Perfect example, we worked on my oldest daughter’s bedroom this summer and her closet door still needs to be hung. She’s fully moved in but the door is resting against her wall waiting for us to tweak some things so it can be installed. Ugh! It’s a club no DIY’er wants to be a member of but most often is! With Gracie’s room I’m determined to leave nothing unfinished so this week was spent finishing up painting projects.
This week, I finished stenciling the top portion of her faux wallpaper. I cut the stencil to make it easier to handle and using the beauty blender finished the stenciling.
Next up, the restored windows got a fresh coat of paint and my favorite woven blinds installed. We’ve been back and forth about adding chunkier crown molding and this photo just cemented the deal. It needs to happen!
Lastly, I added a matte clear coat to her newly painted bed frame. It’s probably unnecessary but wanted to double down on the protection since it’s a kids room. While the needle didn’t move much this week, I’m happy to get those small tasks off the to do list! Club 90% no more!
Be sure to head over to the One Room Challenge Blog to check out all of the spaces that the designers and guest participants will be making over. My favorite part besides tackling a space is following along and encouraging participants along the way.

I have never heard this term but I am laughing because I am so guilty of being in that club! The stenciled wallpaper you did in this room is gorgeous – I have never seen anything like it! Great work so far 🙂
