A solid month into the new year and I am still trying to find my groove! I didn’t intend on taking such a hiatus from posting but progress at the house has been at a snail’s pace and nothing feels like it’s worth posting about. We have a torn up mudroom, a kitchen that looks like a workshop and boxes piled to the ceiling in every direction you look. It ain’t pretty my friends! But I am bound and determined to find my groove and finally get some projects tackled – even if they aren’t perfect.

To be completely honest the wind was knocked out of our sails in early January when we found out that some simple plumbing work was actually a way a bigger job that entailed ripping out most of the walls in our mudroom and gutting the kitchen. This news started fast-tracking projects that we just weren’t ready to tackle so we decided to hit the pause button and put Humpty I mean the house back together again
We have decided to focus on 3 spaces and update them in moderation.
Mudroom

- Back set of stairs in the mudroom needs to be stripped of their green paint, repainted and a stair runner and stair skirting board installed.
- Repair the subfloor and install tile
- Paint, paint and then paint some more ceiling, walls, trim and doors!
- Update wall sconces
- Build a bench for storage with cubbies and hooks
Kitchen Refresh

- Rip out existing tile and install new tile
- Paint existing cabinets, replace hinges and hardware
- Exhaust hood makeover
- Install backsplash
- Install floating shelves
- A mini makeover of the pantry
- Paint, paint and then paint some more ceiling, walls, trim and radiator!
Bathroom Refresh

- Rip out existing floor tile and install new tile
- Install tile in bathtub surround
- Paint existing vanity
- Replace vanity hardware and mirror
- Install board and batten on wall
- Paint, paint and then paint some more ceiling, walls, trim and radiator!
I am bound and determined to make this house look pretty even though it won’t be the final version we thought we were getting. It’ll take time friends, but I know we will get there!
