Eek! I am taking the plunge and joining the Spring 2020 One Room Challenge for the first time ever and making over my daughter’s nursery! Am I nuts since we are in the midst of a world wide pandemic and currently homeschooling? Absolutely! But all this time at home has me wanting to prioritize all the projects we have started and finally get one across the finish line!
For those of you who are not familiar with the One Room Challenge it is a bi-annual event where featured designers and guest participants transform a room over in the span of 8 weeks all while documenting their process weekly. I will post my progress each Thursday here on the blog and share the behind the scenes on instagram. Final reveal will be June 25th!
We bought our 100+ year old house 18 months ago and have been slowly DIY’ing spaces. During that time we welcomed our third daughter and now that she just turned one (and finally sleeping thru the night!!) I am ready to get her nursery in tip top shape. The nursery is a teeny tiny room with no closet – measuring in at 13′ x 7.5′ . Yep, it’s small!
When we bought the house a year ago we ripped out all the existing carpet, removed the roller blinds and had the floors refinished. I then slapped Benjamin Moore’s Simply White on the walls and had her 5 days later. Nesting much!?
A year later and the room has stayed the same – void of any design or personality. A blank canvas except for that chair. It isn’t a favorite by a long shot but I nursed and rocked my older two daughters and call me sentimental but I can’t imagine not doing the same with my third. So it will stay and I will try and design around it – bright red upholstery and all. Can I do it? I’m not sure but you’ll be right along side me hopefully cheering me on!
Be sure to check out what other guest participants are up to on the One Room Challenge blog. See you next week, friends!
