This house has the most amazing original trim but after a 100 years of wear and tear it is pretty beat up. I knew painting would help bring it back to life as well as brighten up the hallway. I could visualize beautiful white trim, freshly painted walls, natural oak doors and refinished hardwood floors.
We were expecting to find the original hardwood floors in great condition like the other rooms in our house but instead found the hallway and master bedroom floors painted. Ugh! Luckily the other three bedrooms had floors that could be refinished and so we only needed to install carpet in the master bedroom and hallway. We had already sourced the stair runner so we simply added to the install for a cohesive look.
It was a simple transformation but my gosh the amount of primer and paint it took to cover that trim!
I found these semi flush mount pendents from Shades of Light which helped update the hallway. We still need to caulk and touch up the trim, rid the doors of that awful orange stain and add artwork but it’s looking refreshed for now.
The power of paint truly amazes me every time!
