Every year I celebrate the end of the school year by putting together a “welcome summer” gift bag. It’s not fancy and most often contains items that are needed for the season anyway but when you add candy and a water gun, well it kicks off summer in the right direction!
Every year I include a Summer Brain Quest, a new book, their favorite candy, and then fill with needed items. My kids love the Summer Brain Quest books. They make learning interactive, stop summer slide and maybe, just maybe I bribe them with a lego set once they complete the book!
This year we’re going to the beach so a wide-brimmed lifeguard hat (gotta protect those shoulders while building sandcastles), sunscreen, and bathing suit were an obvious choice. There is nothing worse than a sticky, sandy kid sitting on your lap so I thought ahead and bought them their very own beach chair too. Win, win!
Other great choices would be a slip n slide, water balloons, chalk and stencil, trampoline sprinkler, or slackline. The slackline is one of my kids’ most used items in our backyard and we highly recommend it!
Let the summer fun begin!
